On Tuesday, 2 October 2018, the Chairman of Asharqia Chamber, Abdul Hakim bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khalidi, received the Director of the British Trade and Investment Office in the Kingdom, Mr. Esther Leong, and the Director of the British Commercial Office in the Eastern Province, Gary Hunt at the headquarters of the Chamber in Dammam.
The two sides exchanged talks on the reality and future of economic and other relations between the Kingdom and Britain.
They also discussed the available cooperation between the two countries and the possibility of getting out of the environment of cooperation limited to oil and gas to non-traditional investment experiences.
Furthermore, AlKhalidi stressed the depth of relations between the two countries and that there is a history of joint cooperation between them at all levels.
He pointed to the importance of the Eastern Region and the elements of attracting several, which makea it a fertile environment for investment on all kinds.
He stressed that the meeting is in the service of the common economic interests between the two countries, and comes in light of the stage of a major economic transformation of the Kingdom to diversify its economic bases. He added, "The vision has opened the way for foreign investment in various fields."
Moreover, Mr. Esther Leong expressed his happiness at the meeting, and stressed that the United Kingdom follows a new policy based on the need to create trade partnerships and alternative trade markets and that Saudi Arabia is at the head of these markets.
He pointed to the education and training sector in the Kingdom and what can be provided from the experiences of the United Kingdom in this area.
He stressed the importance of cooperation between educational institutions and the private sector and the resulting new technologies.
He expressed his readiness to work with Asharqia Chamber in any possible cooperation with Saudi Aramco through its compliance program.
